Twice Over, who disappointed in tenth place in the 2010 Dubai World Cup, is expected to land in Dubai for a second crack at the world’s richest race. His trainer, Henry Cecil, believes he is a better horse this year and is better prepared for the 2011 contest: “"He's better in himself than he was last year. I haven't been held up at all with him. We've had him indoors, he's done quite a lot of cantering and work so we'll have no excuse.”
This year Twice Over is going to have a Meydan prep race on Super Thursday and the master of Warren Place commented: "He knows he's good. He enjoyed it over there last year. I just want him to get used to the track.”
Cecil has been monitoring other horse's preparations over the years and feels: “A lot of horses go over there and you find that they improve for their first race on it. He's not going to be fully wound-up for his first race but he wouldn't be running unless he could give a good account of himself.”
Cecil who is very keen on the horse continued discussing the dual Champion Stakes winner with pride: "He's a very genuine horse and very good, he's won nearly £2m in prize money.”
Although the preparation has been straight forward this year he has not always been straightforward to train as Cecil explained “His main problem is his feet, he has to wear special stick-on shoes.”
Nonetheless Twice Over is an excellent horse and will be a valuable addition to the Dubai World Cup and Super Thursday.
