UK – Long Run owned by Cheltenham Racecourse Director Robert Waley-Cohen won the Cheltenham Gold Cup last week ridden by his son Sam who is an amateur.
New Zealand – Midnight Oil won the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks under Jockey Myers. Myers expertly found a passage through a wall of horses to win the contest on the daughter of Keeper. Trainer Paul Duncan thinks she will next be seen in the Queensland Oaks in Australia.
USA – Bob Baffert has found another live contender for the Kentucky Derby. The Factor partnered by Martin Garcia won the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn in impressive style and showed his prowess in a 6.75 length rout of his rivals.
France – Staros is on course for the Prix du Jockey Club after an easy victory in his prep race in the Listed Prix Maurice Caillault.
Ireland – Drombeg Dawn left it late to win the first big Handicap of the Irish Flat season. Jockey Ben Curtis managed to get the five year old mare in front just in front in the final strides of this competitive handicap to give trainer Andrew McNamara his second win in the race 24 years after his first with Colonel James.
Singapore – Rocket Man was last week named Singapore Horse of the Year.
