Well I have booked the flights, applied for my press pass, and now the countdown begins till the Cheltenham Festival. When I post this entry it will be only three weeks to what is the highlight of my year. It quite simply is my equivalent of a dream holiday and I am working at it! I cannot wait.
The countdown is definitel on and I am now starting to read my form like mad. I look forward to the daily market movers and also the whispers people give you. I had a great whisper for Crackaway Jack but ignored it myself and passed it on to a friend in Rob Bellamy. He was doing pre racing briefings in the press box and tipped it to anyone who cared to listen and they made a packet!
The highlights of the week are the four major races but some of the novice races I love too like the Supreme Novices and the Triumph. Nicky Henderson is the master of these events and I expect him to win a couple of the Novice Hurdles - it is just working out plans what is happening. These plans also change day by day.
Also important is nightlife around the festival and I think I have my plans in place for 3 of the four nights so now just looking for a fourth night. The lovely thing about Cheltenham is that you can often meet up with the jockeys and trainers in the evenings and it is such fun.
Every day I will be making a report for Dubai Eye 103.8 for whom I do a radio show on racing on Fridays. I will also be representing The Dubai Racing Channel, City 7 TV and Al Adiyat at the races so it will be a busy week with all my hats on gathering information and enjoying the atmosphere.
